Celebrating Heritage at 10 Vulcan Lane

Located in the heart of Auckland’s CBD, the refurbishment of 10 Vulcan Lane has given new life to a character-filled heritage building while preserving the architectural features that make it unique.

Working alongside Built Limited, Novii delivered the lighting design for the three-level transformation, creating a lighting experience that highlights the building’s rich materiality and historic character.

Throughout the interior, lighting was carefully integrated to accentuate restored brickwork, textured plaster walls and exposed timber beams. By revealing these original details, light helps tell the story of the building while supporting its function as a contemporary workplace.

The building’s Victorian-inspired façade was also a key focus. Using Lira Lighting Piston luminaires, the exterior lighting highlights architectural detailing and strengthens the building’s presence within the laneway after dark, creating a welcoming arrival experience while celebrating its heritage.

Across the project, Tyke Prismatic Linear luminaires, FluxxLED Step Lights, bulkheads, and integrated strip lighting and profiles work together to provide comfortable illumination while allowing the architecture to remain the focal point.

The result is a thoughtful refurbishment that respects the past while preparing the building for its next chapter.
