Our team, GHD Architects and GHD Electrical Engineers worked meticulously to interweave modern lighting with intricate timber ceiling at the new Whangarei Maori Land Court. 

Taking inspiration from Maori culture aesthetics, the custom X-shaped Tyke lighting flowing between the timber crossroads plays homage to the iconic Tāniko and Tukutuku.

The Whangarei Maori Land Court is a great example of beautiful juxtaposition – contemporary cultural heritage architecture, organic materiality and shapes playing harmoniously with modern light technology.
