A Workplace Designed Around Connection at One New Zealand’s New Headquarters
At 30 Daldy Street in Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter, One New Zealand’s new headquarters represents a fresh vision for the modern workplace; one that prioritises connection, wellbeing, sustainability and a strong sense of local identity.
Designed and delivered by STACK Interiors, the workplace is guided by four core principles: connection, local, better than home and technology. The result is a destination that feels distinctly Aotearoa while supporting the evolving ways people work, meet and collaborate.
Novii partnered with STACK Interiors to deliver a lighting solution that supports these ambitions, carefully integrating light throughout the workplace to shape experiences, enhance comfort and reveal the architectural character of the space.
Creating a Seamless Journey
From the moment visitors arrive, lighting helps establish a clear and welcoming experience. Custom Lightnet Matric-F3 recessed linear luminaires integrated throughout the lift lobbies create clean visual lines that guide movement through the building while reinforcing the refined aesthetic of the interior design.
As occupants move through the workplace, carefully layered lighting helps define a variety of environments without disrupting the openness and flexibility that characterise the fit-out.
A key feature along the bridge connection is the illumination of a client-commissioned sculpture. Here, Lira Inground Naik up-lights were installed flush within the floor tiles, providing discreet yet effective illumination that draws attention to the artwork while maintaining the clean architectural language of the space. The recessed inground luminaires allow the sculpture to become a focal point without introducing visual clutter, enhancing the journey through the workplace.
Supporting Connection and Collaboration
At the heart of the workplace are a series of collaborative and social spaces designed to bring people together.
Meeting rooms are illuminated using a combination of Grace Compose downlights, Lightnet Ringo Star-GY circular pendants and Lightnet Liquid Line-GX suspended linear luminaires. Together, these fittings create environments that feel comfortable, focused and inviting while supporting the varied ways teams gather, share ideas and connect throughout the day.
Within the boardroom and seminar spaces, custom Tyke 3 N-Series linear luminaires integrated into feature frames form part of the architectural expression itself, helping to define key destinations while maintaining a cohesive visual language across the workplace.
The central atrium is illuminated using Grace Thrive Gyro twin adjustable downlights, providing controlled, high-quality illumination that supports movement, orientation and connection throughout the space.
The Social Heart of the Workplace
The café and communal hub play an important role in One NZ’s vision for a workplace that feels “better than home”.
Here, multiple layers of light work together to create warmth and atmosphere. Grace Compose downlights provide balanced ambient illumination, while Grace Thrive adjustable downlights highlight key areas throughout the space. Integrated shelving illumination, under-cabinet lighting and concealed LED strip lighting add depth and visual interest throughout the joinery.
Carefully concealed lighting highlights materials and finishes, creating inviting environments that encourage conversation, connection and moments of pause throughout the day. Feature lighting integrated within banquette seating and cabinetry further contributes to the relaxed, hospitality-inspired feel of the workplace.
Revealing Materiality and Local Identity
Throughout the project, lighting has been used to celebrate the materials and craftsmanship that contribute to the workplace’s distinctly New Zealand character.
Integrated FluxxLED strip lighting illuminates the concierge timber feature wall, bringing texture and warmth to the interior while supporting STACK’s vision for a workplace grounded in local authenticity.
Rather than drawing attention to itself, the lighting quietly reveals the richness of the interior palette and helps bring the broader design narrative to life.
Technology Integrated with Human Experience
While technology is a key pillar of the workplace, it has been thoughtfully balanced with human-centred design.
Feature lighting integrated within specialist spaces, including seminar and technology-focused environments, demonstrates how lighting can contribute to both functionality and experience. Within the seminar tunnel, custom integrated RGBW lighting recessed into wall and ceiling panelling creates an immersive transition space, while the Network Operations Centre incorporates dynamic RGBW feature lighting and illuminated architectural details.
These carefully concealed systems create visual interest while supporting the flexibility and performance expected from a contemporary workplace.
A Workplace for the Future
Located within Mansons TCLM’s 6 Green Star-rated development, the project reflects a shared commitment to sustainability, longevity and workplace wellbeing.
The result is a highly considered environment where architecture, interior design and lighting work together to create meaningful experiences throughout the day; from focused work and collaboration to social connection and informal moments between.
More than simply illuminating a workplace, the lighting helps shape a destination that reflects One New Zealand’s culture, values and aspirations for the future.
